Robert James “Jim” Vieth

Beason — Robert James “Jim” Vieth, 72, of Beason, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Lincoln Village in Lincoln.

Services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Staci Thommes will officiate. Burial will be at the Harmony Cemetery in rural Beason.

Robert James Vieth was born on March 29, 1952, in Lincoln, the son of Robert Lee and Mary F. Jackson Vieth.

He is survived by his son Robert J. (Athena) Vieth, and daughter Angelique (Eric) Wolpert; grandchildren: Austin (Tori), Emma, Noah (Elizabeth), Eric, Cynthia, Melodie (Logan), Karissa (Keeton), Riley (Emily), Brady (Makenzie), and Erica; and 6 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna (Mark) Vieth.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a 1970 graduate of Beason High School. He then attended Lincoln College to study art and Eastern Illinois University where he studied agri-business. He farmed for several years with his father and worked for Jacques Seed Corn Company, along with tattooing racehorses.

Growing up, Jim was an avid athlete who excelled at both basketball and baseball. He played college baseball at both Lincoln College and Eastern Illinois University. Active in both 4-H and FFA, Jim accrued many awards for both showing and judging livestock.

Robert James will always be remembered as a man of great strength, stubbornness and unwavering spirit, and loyalty to his friends and family. He had a passion for farming and tattooing horses with his father and cherished every moment with his loved ones.

  1. I am so very sorry to learn of Jim’s passing. I got to know Jim through Kathy Bruce. We had a lot of fun whenever we’d get together. Jim had a great sense of humor. Please know you have my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
