Richard “Dick” L. Huffington

Minier – Richard “Dick” L. Huffington, 85, of Minier, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 12:14 a.m.

Visitation will be held at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

A Memorial Mass will be conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hopedale on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Geoff Horton officiating. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Burial will follow at Funks Grove Cemetery in rural McLean.

Richard Lynn Huffington was born December 21, 1938, in Normal, the son of Bernard C. and Edith Koepke Huffington. He was united in marriage to Martha A. Chamberlin on June 3, 1958. She survives.

Dick is also survived by their children: Debbie Huffington, Rick (Connie) Huffington, Denise (Dave) Patton, Jill Dowdy, Tom (Tammy) Huffington, and Mitch Huffington; grandchildren: Casey Huffington, Dean Patton, Nicole (Alex) Taylor, Paul Calbone, Jason Cunningham, Chelsea Dowdy, Austin Huffington, Dylan Huffington, Cole Huffington, Taylor Huffington, Morgan Huffington, Courtney (Kyle) Fitch, Katlyn Phinney, Shelby Huffington, and Carter Huffington; great-grandchildren: Caden Bradshaw, Miles Walker, and Willow Walker; and two sisters: Mildred Maxine Ullian and Linda Otto.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Tyler Huffington and Anthony Calbone; and seven siblings.

Dick was a graduate of Normal Community High School and retired after 41 years from State Farm Insurance Company. He raised six kids with a loving wife teaching them to work hard and to pursue their dreams.  He enjoyed sports and was a volunteer baseball and basketball coach for many years. Upon retirement he loved golfing, fishing and spending time with family.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hopedale.

Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice, HOOAH Deer Hunt for Heroes, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
