Bloomington — James “Jim” Defenbaugh, 85, of Bloomington, went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2025, at 7:03 a.m. at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Funk’s Grove Cemetery. His children welcome all who knew him.
Jim was born on September 27, 1939, to Thelma and Ted Defenbaugh. He had a sister, Nancy Shutt, of Downs. His parents and sister preceded him in death.
Jim has two children, both married, Katie (Tobin) Bushong and Kurt (Bo) Defenbaugh, in Houston, Texas. He has three grandchildren: Carter, Palmer, and Wren.
Jim was a member of First Christian Church in Bloomington and had a deep faith in Christ. He graduated from Bloomington High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1958, where he served as a Medical Specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1962 and completed his Bachelors Degree at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He asked to be remembered for his love of God, his family, and his country.
Memorials may be made in his honor to his church or a Veteran’s organization of choice.
