Lincoln, IL — Ivan LeRoy Tripplett, 90, of Lincoln, Illinois, passed the checkered flag one final time. Ivan completed the greatest race of all and began his journey home on July 25th, 2026.
Ivan was born on April 1, 1936, in Middletown, Illinois, to Otis and Jesse Tripplett. On June 25, 1955, he married the love of his life, JoAnn Bradley, beginning a marriage that spanned more than 71 years.
Ivan dedicated many years of service to Myers Industries before retiring to his second career, Grandpa. He was a hardworking man who valued family, conversation, and the simple joys of life. A lifelong enthusiast of classic cars and dirt track racing, Ivan found happiness at the racetrack and in the garage. He was always eager to strike up a conversation with anyone willing to lend an open ear. His sense of humor, love of storytelling, and confidence will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn; his children, Gary (Susie), Frank, and Lotis (Jerry); grandchildren: Travis, Michelle, Cierra, and Jordan; two great-grandchildren: Coda and Ellie; and his sisters, Rose and Marilyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Joy, John, and Jim.
Though he has taken his final checkered flag, his memory and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him forever.
