Daniel L. Billington

Heyworth – Daniel L. Billington, 75, of Heyworth, passed away at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center on Friday, June 28, 2024.

Graveside services for Daniel will be held at Randolph Township Cemetery, rural Heyworth, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m, with Pastor John Horner officiating. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Daniel Leslie Billington was born December 26, 1948, in Lincoln, the son of Harold Leslie and Mildred A. Hulvey Billington.

Daniel is survived by his mother, Mildred; sister, Dixie (Kendall Ferguson) Percival; and brother-in-law, Rex Griffin, and his significant other and best friend Shizuko Kindred of Atlanta. She never left his side when he became seriously ill. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by son Todd, brother Dennis Billington, sister Delora Griffin, and his father, Harold.

Daniel was a 1966 graduate of Trioka “Hittle Township” High School in Armington and then the U of I Police Training Institute. He had worked for the McLean County Circuit Clerk, and as a McLean County Sheriff’s Deputy and for ISU Police prior to serving as the Heyworth Police Chief for 17 years. Daniel had also worked for the Bloomington Pantagraph and LDC. He was a member of the Armington Christian Church and enjoyed playing music, specifically the guitar and mandolin at various events and VFW and Nursing Homes.

Memorials may be made to Heyworth Ambulance.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.

  1. I knew Dan from my days back in Heyworth, I even bought a snowmobile trailer from him MANY years ago that i still own. Always thought Dan was a very good person… RIP
