Mt. Pulaski — Charles “Sonny” Aylesworth, 91, of Mt. Pulaski, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the H & J Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski.
He leaves to cherish his memories son: Brad (Sheila) Aylesworth of Mt. Pulaski; son-in-law: Frank Buckles of Mt. Pulaski; granddaughters: Brooke Buckles of Mt. Pulaski; and Bridget (Nick) Fleer of Chatham; and four great-grandchildren: Blake, Caden, Brie and Frankie June.
Sonny graduated from Mt. Pulaski High School in 1951. He then served in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. Later he retired with 28 years of service from Caterpillar Manufacturing. He had the honor of going to Washington D.C. on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight in 2013.
He is a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 447. He never met a stranger, was always full of joy, told the best stories, and had many, many friends.
His hobbies included woodworking and fun projects with his grandchildren.
Private burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery in rural Mt. Pulaski.
A celebration of Charles and Barbara’s life will be held at the American Legion Post 447, on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 447, or the Mt. Pulaski Ambulance Service.
