Bayne Viktor Nantz was born July 17, 2011, in Normal, IL, the son of Mike L. and Robyn R. Rhodes Nantz.

Bayne is survived by his parents; one brother, Drake V. Nantz; grandparents Becky Rhodes and John and Gail Nantz, his dogs Flea and Frankie; and his cats The Rizzler, Favie, Alex and Bird, and many aunts, uncle, and cousins who dearly loved him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Carl E. Rhodes.

Bayne was an adventurous soul who loved being outside – from racing motorcycles, fishing, hiking, rock climbing, to biking – he loved getting dirty. He did the most badass things on a motorcycle, could swing an axe for hours and build a viable shelter at 11,000 feet up the mountains, build you a bookshelf with his calloused miniature man hands, and yet he still blew mom and dad a kiss every single day from the school bus window as it drove away. He loved cooking, woodworking, playing basketball, and was a friend to all animals. He also had an auto detailing business.

Bayne was special, tough, wise beyond his years, and somehow still sweet and innocent, and just so damn cool. He was everything that is beautiful in this world, made up of little pieces and parts of us, yet he managed to sidestep all the bad. We are proud to call you son and brother, and to have been passengers on this all-too-short train ride.

Bayne’s family decided to give him continued life in the body of others, through Gift of Hope, as an organ donor.

Memorials may be made to OSF Children’s Hospital Nursing Staff.

Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta is assisting the family with arrangements.
