William “Bill” R. Tebrugge, 100, 4 days short of his 101st birthday, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024, at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Care Center in Lincoln, IL.

William Ralph Tebrugge was born on June 25, 1923, in Petersburg, Illinois, to William Daniel and Marie Johanna Becker Tebrugge. He was united in marriage to Gretchen Grosboll on February 21, 1946. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children: Mark (Kathryn) Tebrugge and Amy Owings; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Todd) Bezenah, Christopher (Brandy) Hoekstra, Emma (Steven) Gillespie, and Hannah (Ryan) Olson; and six great-grandchildren: Will Bezenah, Amelia and Sidney Gillespie, Blake and Beckett Olson, and Sloane Hoekstra. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gretchen, and special friend Lucy Johnson; brothers: Henry, James, and Lawrence “Bud” Tebrugge; sisters: Elsie Juhl, Marie Grosboll, and Mildred Allen, and son-in-law, Stan Owings.
Bill farmed in the Lincoln area for many years. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in India and Burma. He was a member of the American Legion Post #263, Elks Lodge #914, Kiwanis Club, and Illinois Pork Producers. He had donated 33 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross over his lifetime, as well as being named Elk of the Year for 1982-83.
Bill’s hobbies included golf, watching the Cubs, the Bears, and the Illini, and especially enjoyed supporting and watching girls’ sports. He spent many happy years living in Florida and enjoyed spending time there with close friends and family.
