Lincoln — Virginia “Ginny” A. Mitchell, 83, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Care Center in Lincoln.
A visitation for Virginia will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Cremation Rites have been accorded.
No services are scheduled.
Virginia Ann Thompson was born on December 6, 1940, in Hammond, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Leona Rose Barr Thompson. She was united in marriage to Welby J. Mitchell in March 1961. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1988.
She is survived by her children: Sarah Leah Larson, James Wayne (Penny) Mitchell, William W. (Carol) Mitchell, Gary Eugene (Carol) Mitchell, and Candice Renee (Wayne) Knoth; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, two brothers, one daughter: Juanita Bryant, one grandson: Chadwick Meade, and one great-granddaughter: Mable Audrine Larson.
She graduated from the Monticello High School in 1957. She had been employed at Walmart, R & R Cafe, and the DeWitt County Nursing Home in Hallsville.
Her hobbies included playing Bingo, cooking, and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
