Roger E. Cooper

Atlanta — Roger E. Cooper, 91, of Atlanta, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at his home.

Funeral Services for Mr. Cooper will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta, with Mr. Maurice Stribling officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Long Hollow Cemetery in Plato, Missouri, at a later date.

Roger Edward Cooper was born on February 9, 1934, in Big Piney, Missouri, the son of James Early and Ollie Jane Hildebrand Cooper. He was united in marriage to Lois Ferrell on September 2, 1977. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2020.

He is survived by his children: Jeanette (Reese) Mouldin, Mike (Beth) Cooper, Rance Cooper, Brian (Terry) McGee, Carla Dailey, and Ralph Cooper; granddaughter Kisha (Mike) Swartz; eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Kristine Birdwell, and son Jason McGee.

Roger was employed by Alex Hoblit at Hoblit Farms and he mowed lawns for many people in Atlanta.

To know Roger was to love him. After becoming sober in June of 1983, he dedicated his life to helping others in their sobriety journey. In his 41 years of being sober he sponsored and touched an endless amount of people. If he wasn’t at a meeting you could find him mowing or working on a lawn mower. He will be greatly missed by so many. He was a blessing to all who knew him.
