Lincoln — Robert “Peewee” L. Merreighn, 64, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous 5-year battle with head and neck cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Atlanta. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Lincoln.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p. m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.
A Rosary Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. prior to the visitation.
Robert Lee Merreighn was born March 11, 1958, in Lincoln, the son of Wilford “Bill” and Beverly Ealy Merreighn.
He is survived by his children: Ty Merreighn and Casey (Lyndsay) Merreighn; his grandchildren: Tyler and Trey Merreighn, Emma Upton, Kacelynn and Tate Merreighn, Trey Hebert, and Chad Merreighn, Jr.; his soul mate in life and love for 27 years, Janice Ayers Stewart; his siblings: Norma Langly, Scott (Laura) Gaddy, Todd Gaddy, and Shawn (Angie) Gaddy; and additional children: David (Michelle) Daggett and Mary Kay (Jacob) Snyder, additional grandchildren: Dylan Duvall, Baylee Cronin, Steven Buchanan, Preston Daggett, and Briana Daggett; additional great-granddaughter: Lilah Daggett; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Chad Merreighn; and siblings: Billie Merreighn, Tami Merreighn Huskins, Cherie Merreighn, Donnie Merreighn, and Cheryl Feese. He was the last of his immediate family.
Peewee graduated from the Lincoln Community High School in 1976. He retired from Lincoln Wastewater Treatment Plant after 42 years of service on September 11, 2021.
He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Eagles Aerie #2708, where he served as a Trustee for many years, Sons of the American Legion Post #263, and Knights of Columbus Council #1250.
He was an avid Cardinals baseball fan. He also enjoyed playing golf and shooting pool.
