Malcoum E. Rutledge

May 19, 1931 – March 8, 2022

Heyworth — Malcoum E. Rutledge, 90, of Heyworth, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Heritage Health Nursing Home in Normal.

Graveside services for Mr. Rutledge will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022, at Randolph Township Cemetery in rural Heyworth with Mr. Tony Billingsley officiating.

Malcoum E. Rutledge was born on May 19, 1931, in Austin, Kentucky, the son of John Clarence and Sarah Carver Rutledge. He was united in marriage to Mary Lavonna Miller on August 5, 1951. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2003.

He is survived by his children: Stephen (Frieda) Rutledge and Cynthia Butler; four grandchildren: Matthew (Jessica) Rutledge, Laila (Brad) Bishop, Sheila (Joshua) Hughes, and Paul (Stephanie) Butler; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister: Sophia Bates.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Clarence Rutledge and Herman Rutledge; and one sister: Ann Rutledge.

Malcoum graduated from the Bloomington High School in 1949, later serving in the Illinois National Guard. He was a member of the Heyworth Christian Church. He was employed at Ensenbergers Furniture Store in Bloomington as the warehouse foreman for twenty-six years. He later worked at Peoples Bank and at Medical Screening as a service man.

Memorials may be made to the Heyworth Fire and Ambulance Service or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
