Atlanta – Eugene W. Mattingly, 90, of Atlanta, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Eugene William Mattingly was born on September 10, 1932, in Bloomington, the son of James William and Martha Frances Whitfield Mattingly. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Pharis on July 26, 1958, in Atlanta. She preceded Gene in death on September 3, 2022.
Gene is survived by his son, Eric (Renate Klausen) Mattingly; grandchildren: Jody Stout, Travis Stout, Erica (Molly) Mattingly, and Jared (Brandy) Mattingly, and one great-grandson, Brayden Ribblet.
He was preceded in death by one son, Alan E. Mattingly; and one brother, Robert Mattingly.
Gene was a 1950 graduate of Atlanta High School. He then served in the United States Army. He worked at General Electric in Bloomington prior to Olympia School District from which he retired as a Maintenance Supervisor.
