Atlanta — Betty A. Applegate, 97, of Atlanta, passed away at Timber Creek Village in Lincoln on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Services for Mrs. Applegate will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. and will conclude with a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Deborah J. Johnston officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in the Atlanta Cemetery.
Betty Ann Brink was born on April 15, 1928, in Arrowsmith, the daughter of George and Lena Goff Brink. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Small on October 4, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1971. She was later united in marriage to Richard “Dick” P. Applegate on September 8, 1984. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2023.
She is survived by her children: Rick (Tina) Small, Joseph (Ligia) Applegate, Priscilla (Luke) Hughes, and Clara Nancy Applegate, M.D. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands and one sister: Margie Wyantt.
Betty graduated from Arrowsmith High School in 1946. She was employed by General Telephone (Verizon) in the accounting department for many years. She was a member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Atlanta United Methodist Church or the Atlanta Rescue Squad.
