Glen Ellyn, IL — Ann Ash Hildebrand, age 89, passed away November 26, 2021, in her home in Glen Ellyn.
Ann was born March 25, 1932, in Lincoln, and grew up in Atlanta. Voted Logan County Fair Queen in 1947, Ann was known for her vivacious personality. She attended University of Colorado after graduating from high School. There she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and remained an active member throughout her life. She finished her degree in education at North Central College in Naperville. Ann taught in Glen Ellyn School District 41 for twenty years. As a teacher she recognized each child’s potential and encouraged his or her strengths. In addition to her teaching career, she served as an election judge and was active in several political campaigns.
Ann was married to Robert L. Hildebrand for 70 years. She was preceded in death by her daughter Rebecca (Richard) Vincens.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, son Robert (Cindy) Hildebrand, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A devoted mother, wife, and friend, Ann had a positive outlook on life and was inspirational to those who knew her and loved her. She loved her childhood in Atlanta, IL where she spent many hours on her grandfather’s farm. Her grandfather taught her to play the piano and playing the piano became a lifelong love. In her retirement years, she enjoyed playing the piano at the DuPage Convalescent Home. Always smiling, Ann enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved celebrating Christmas and her grandchildren’s birthdays making time for each grandchild to feel loved and valued.
A private burial will be held in Atlanta, Illinois on December 11, 2021.
