Normal – Eric L. Atchison, 67, of Normal, formerly of Atlanta, passed away at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
A Memorial Service for Eric will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Mr. Ryan Edgecombe will officiate. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Eric Lee Atchison was born June 16, 1959, in Lincoln, a son of Melvin J. and Francis Baker Atchison. He was united in marriage to Kathryn White on December 15, 1989. She survives.
Eric is also survived by four children: Robert “BJ” Atchison, William Atchison, Jeremiah Atchison, and Jakob Atchison; five grandchildren: Aeryahna, Isiah, Caleb, Kennedy, and Isabella; one brother, Dennis (Anita) Atchison; and one sister, Jeanette Atchison.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rita Girdler; and his parents.
Eric had attended Olympia High School and was retired from Heartland Community College where he had worked as a janitor. He enjoyed sports and particularly rooted for the Oakland As and Las Vegas Raiders. He was a fan of KISS and enjoyed playing on his Play Station.
Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Logan County.
