Atlanta – Sadie E. Atchison, 49, of Charleston, formerly of Atlanta, passed away at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon on Sunday, March 23, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Services for Sadie are scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 11:00 a.m. with a Memorial Service officiated by Mr. Tony Billingsley. Burial will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Sadie Elizabeth Atchison was born May 29, 1975, the daughter of Alice and Dennis Atchison. She was a 1994 graduate of Olympia High School, and then attended Heartland Community College, Lincoln Christian College, and graduated from Lincoln College in 1998. She had worked at Eagles in Lincoln and as a pre-school teacher’s aide in Atlanta.
She is survived by her father, Dennis and step-mother, Anita Atchison; several aunts and uncles: Eric and Kathy Atchison, Jeanette Atchison, Tom and Pat Daugherty, Rosemary Bishop, and Helen Daugherty; and many cousins.
Sadie was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Daugherty Atchison; grandparents: Rethel and Elizabeth Daugherty and Jean and Francis Atchison, uncle Joe Daugherty, and aunt Rita Girdler.
Sadie enjoyed crafting, watching movies, reading books, listening to music, and shopping. She was a kind soul who for the last several years lived in a group home in Charleston. The other residents became her extended family.
Her family especially thanks the staffs at Lifelinks of Mattoon, Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, and Palm Terrace Nursing Home in Mattoon.
Memorials may be made to Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta to help with funeral expenses.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
