Lincoln, IL — It is with deep sorrow and reverent gratitude that we announce the passing of Évêque Jean Joachin Romain, a devoted servant of God, a spiritual father to many, and the beloved founder of Good Shepherd’s Love Orphanage in Haiti Tabarre.
Born on December 19, 1956, Évêque Jean Joachin Romain lived a life marked by unwavering faith, profound compassion, and tireless dedication to his community. A Pentecostal leader called to shepherd not just a church but a movement, he faithfully served as the overseer of Église de Dieu Communion Chrétienne de Truitier, leading over twelve churches under its spiritual umbrella.
With a heart for the vulnerable, Évêque Jean Joachin Romain founded Good Shepherd’s Love Orphanage, where he not only provided shelter and sustenance, but also offered love, education, and spiritual guidance to countless children. He became a father to the fatherless and a beacon of hope in the lives of the forgotten.
His ministry reached far beyond the pulpit. He mentored generations of pastors, comforted grieving families, and brought souls to Christ with humility and grace. Whether preaching under the sun or praying quietly in his study or in his morning walks, he embodied the scripture: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
Évêque Jean Joachin Romain leaves behind a powerful legacy of faith, family, and service. He is survived by his loving wife, Merese; one daughter, Samuelle Romain; the children of the orphanage who lovingly called him “Papi,” and an entire community forever changed by his life.
To honor his memory and continue the work he devoted his life to, donations can be made to support his mission of investing in people. Contributions may be made at https://gslsponsor.com/sponsor, or by contacting Samuelle Romain directly at samuelleromain@gmail.com or 561-507-3608 for further inquiries on how to help. The greatest gift, however, is your prayers because they move mountains, and sharing his story with friends and family who may feel led to support this ongoing mission of love.
Flowers may be sent to: AJ Funeral Home, 124 Western Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139
