Dennis P. O’Donoghue

August 12, 1948 – August 10, 2022

Lincoln — Denny O’Donoghue, 73, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

A Mass of Catholic Burial Service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. David Heinz officiating. Casual attire is welcomed.

Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #263.

A Rosary Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2022, prior to the visitation at the church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Dennis P. O’Donoghue was born on August 12, 1948, in Hardinsburg, Kentucky, the son of Thomas Joseph and Agnes “Ma” Catherine Alexander O’Donoghue. He was united in marriage to Marsha Allen on October 2, 1971. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughter: Tricia (Jerry) Benninger; his grandchildren: Allena Benninger and Jake Benninger; eight siblings: Tom (Cyndie) O’Donoghue, Mike (Mary) O’Donoghue, Q-Ball (Gail) O’Donoghue, Ruth (Mike) Young, Jinx (Joe) Gleason, Boone (Marsha) O’Donoghue, Dick (Myretta) O’Donoghue, and Tim (Shirley) O’Donoghue; sisters-in-law: Judy O’Donoghue, and Lynn O’Donoghue; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Pat and Punk O’Donoghue.

Denny served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 thru 1970. He owned and operated O’ Donoghue Radiator Shop with his brother Q-Ball for 39 years. He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Colombus Council #1250, American Legion Post #263, and 40 & 8.

Denny was an avid fan of Dirt Track Racing at Lincoln Speedway. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing and his favorite race car driver Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He looked forward to the Annual Denny Burger Run to the Hialeah Club with his family and friends. He also enjoyed his Saturday nights drives with his Sweetie. Denny loved his big family and enjoyed being tormented by his grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church Restoration Fund.
