Lincoln — Carol Grunder, 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, surrounded by family at Timber Creek Village in Lincoln.
Services for Carol will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., concluding at 11:00 a.m. with a Memorial Mass officiated by Rev. Joseph Dondanville. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Carol was born in Mendota, IL on December 21, 1939, to parents Harold and Margaret Bansau. She was united in marriage to Ben Grunder on July 29, 1961.
Carol is survived by children Julie Behm, Eric (Kimberly Sterling) Grunder and Jill (Andrew) Upshaw; grandchildren Marissa (Adam) Kinigson, Sarah (Andrew) Fitzgerald, Benjamin Grunder and Adam Grunder; great-grandchildren Elena Kinigson, Liam Fitzgerald and Violett Grunder; and sister Shirley Dinges.
She was preceded in death by husband Ben Grunder, son-in-law Walt Behm and sister Marilyn Evans.
Carol graduated from Illinois State University and taught 3rd grade at Carroll Catholic Grade School in Lincoln for 27 years before retiring.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Lincoln Women’s Club. In retirement, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, travel, golf and bridge.
