Lincoln — Bess M. Newhouse, 82, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022, at her home.
Private Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln with Mr. Ron Otto officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home. The Lincoln Emblem Club will have a service at the funeral home at 3:45 p.m. prior to the visitation.
Bessie Marie Sparks was born on May 13, 1940, in Lincoln, the daughter of Allen Mayo and Delia Mae Humbert Sparks. She was united in marriage to Ronald Newhouse on December 31, 1976. He survives.
Also surviving are her children: Dianne (Dave) Johnson and Michael Geriets; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister: Shirley (Larry) Conaway and one brother: Ron (Bev) Sparks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother: Donald Sparks.
Bess graduated from the Lincoln Community High School in 1958. She was a beautician/hairdresser and a prep cook at various restaurants.
She was a member of the Lincoln Christian Church, Lincoln Emblem Club, Moose, and Eagles Auxiliary. She loved gambling and enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home of Lincoln.
