Atlanta — Ann Garner, 91 of Atlanta, IL, formerly of McLean, IL, Bloomington, IL, Greeley, CO, and Prescott, AZ, died at 3:44 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, IL.

Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home, 202 NW Vine Street, Atlanta, with Mr. Maurice Stribling officiating. Following the funeral, cremation rites will be accorded, and inurnment will take place in The Memorial Garden at Prescott United Methodist Church, Prescott, AZ.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Vanessa Ann Swearingen was born December 10, 1933, in McLean, IL, the daughter of John H. and Effie Reed Swearingen. She first married Patrick W. Holohan, May 2, 1954, at McLean, IL. They divorced in 1979. She then married the love of her life James I. “Hank” Garner on August 5, 1983, at Coolidge, Arizona. Hank preceded her in death on July 31, 1997, at Prescott, AZ.

She is survived by: her daughter Elizabeth (Larry) Struble of Prescott, AZ; a grandson, Ryan (Rebecca Mancha) Holohan of Austin, TX; a stepdaughter, Karen (Mike) Winn of Sacramento, California; a stepson, Todd (Toni) Garner of Navato, CA; a bonus daughter, Sherry King, of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces and nephews: Sally (Ralph) Senteney of Kewanee, IL; Harlan (Martha) Fabert of Effingham, IL; John H. (Susan) Swearingen of Atlanta, IL; LeAnne (Galen) Tully of Arthur, IL; Tina (Greg) Wertheim of Normal, IL; Laura Van Hoorn of Peoria, IL; Lisa Polley of Bloomington, IL; Eric (Deb) Fabert of Mooresville, IN; Kurt (Polly) Swearingen of Normal, IL; Tim (Cheryl) Swearingen of New Braunfels, Texas; Kathy (Kim) Johnson of Bloomington, IL; Kathy Hardy of Mt. Zion, IL; Paul (Susan) Usherwood of Chatham, IL; Rebecca Craig of Grand Island, FL; and a sister-in-law, Olive Swearingen of McKinney, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hank Garner; son, Thomas Patrick Holohan; her sister Laura Lou Fabert; and brothers Harold R. Swearingen and Delmar L. Swearingen.

She was a 1951 graduate of McLean High School where she served as a cheerleader. She was a former employee of the State Farm Insurance Company. She was an avid Mexican Train player who taught many to play the game. She was a very active member of Prescott United Methodist Church in Prescott, AZ and served in many leadership roles.
